Muslim also set out until he reached Kufa and entered the house of Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid Thaghafi. When Muslim arrived in Kufa, Shiites and other people rushed to meet him and whenever a group gathered around him. He read Imam Hussain’s letter to them and people cried. The people of Kufa pledged allegiance to Muslim bin Aqeel and this pledge continued until the number of pledgers reached eighteen thousand people. The Kufis promised Muslim to fight and help and said: I swear to God, we will fight with our swords in front of Hussain, peace be upon him, until we all die.

Then he asked them to remain loyal to the caliphate of Yazid who is sitting in the place of Muawiyah. But the people of Kufa were indifferent to him, and Muslim bin Aqeel continued his work by sending Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid Thaqafi around Kufa in order to obtain the allegiance of the surrounding tribes.

The people of Kufa had heard that Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) was on his way to them, so they were waiting for his arrival. When Obaidullah bin Ziyad arrived in Kufa, the people rushed to welcome him thinking that he was Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, and greeted him as the son of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Ibn Ziyad was saddened by these many congratulations and congratulations, but he remained silent and did not answer until Muslim bin Amr Bahli shouted to his relatives and companions: Get away from Amir. This is not who you think. This is Amir Obaidullah bin Ziyad. Hearing this, the people scattered around him and Ibn Ziyad went to the Dar al-Imara of Kufa.
Nu’man bin Bashir, who had heard that Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) had entered Kufa, closed the palace door on Obaidullah bin Ziyad. Numan said to him from Daralamare: God forbid you, stay away from me. I swear to God, I will not surrender my trust to you, and I also have no need to kill. Ibn Ziyad came close and introduced himself and said: Open the door so that you won’t win. In this way, Obaidullah bin Ziyad settled in Kufa.

Muslim bin Aqeel, who saw himself as indebted to Hani, had to rise early in order to save him.

Ibn Ziyad kept the rest of the leaders and nobles of Kufa with him to seek help from them.

After learning about the matter, Muslim bin Aqeel sent a group to confront Muhammad bin Ash’ath. Ibn Ziyad tied a banner for Shabth bin Rabi and sent him out to attract people and confront Muslim. The other elders of Kufa also spoke like him and the people started leaving and scattered after hearing it. Panic and anxiety filled the entire Kufa, so that the woman came and took her husband’s hand and said: “Let’s go, leave them alone.” Those who remain are sufficient for the sure help.
Everyone went to their houses and closed their doors. When night came and Muslim wanted to pray, only thirty people prayed with him, and when he saw that no one was left with him, he went to the alleys. When he reached the streets, ten people were with him

According to another saying, when Muslim bin Aqeel came to the mosque at night for prayer, there were no more than ten people with him. Bring me to me, that I will dominate all the houses of the people of Kufa. Put guards on the streets and inspect all the houses one by one tomorrow morning to arrest him and bring him to me.”

Martyrdom of Muslim bin Aqeel and Hani bin Urwa peace be upon us

In Syria, Yazid also hung the heads of Muslim and Hani on the gate of Damascus and in a letter ordered Obaidullah bin Ziad to be careful, if Hossein bin Ali (peace be upon him) reaches Kufa, to monitor him and convey his news to him.
