  • The Supreme Leader’s Recent Strategy Regarding Zionist Movements Against IranOver the past month, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has twice outlined Iran’s strategy regarding anti-Iranian movements by the Zionist regime. During Friday prayers in Tehran on October 13, 1403 (October 4, 2024), referring to Operation Wa’d al-Sadiq 2 (The True Promise 2), he emphasized the legitimacy and legality of Iran’s actions, stating:”In fulfilling our duty, we neither hesitate nor act hastily. What is logical, reasonable, and aligned with the views of our political and military decision-makers will be carried out at the appropriate time. In the future, if necessary, such actions will occur again.”On November 6, 1403 (November 1, 2024), during a meeting with the esteemed families of security martyrs, the Supreme Leader also addressed the recent Zionist regime attack on Iranian territory, emphasizing:”Regarding this wrongdoing they committed, they themselves are exaggerating with specific aims; however, downplaying it and saying it was insignificant and unimportant would also be a mistake.”The Supreme Leader further stressed the necessity of disrupting the Zionist regime’s miscalculations regarding Iran, stating:”They have a miscalculation about Iran because they do not understand Iran, its youth, and its people. They have yet to comprehend the power, capabilities, innovation, and determination of the Iranian nation, and we must make them understand this.”These statements on avoiding both hesitation and recklessness in responding to Israel, as well as avoiding both exaggeration and underestimation of the Zionist regime’s movements, have become central to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategy regarding the occupiers’ actions. Many political and military officials have also referenced these principles.Iran’s Response to Israel Is InevitableGiven the Supreme Leader’s remarks and statements from Iranian military and political officials, it seems Israel’s attack on parts of Iran will not go unanswered. Yesterday, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament), confirmed Iran’s definite response to Israel. He stated:”Although the Zionist regime’s military action against Iran stemmed from weakness and resulted in yet another failure for this regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran, under its inherent right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter, considers itself entitled to defend itself, and responding to this aggression is inevitable within the appropriate framework.”Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, also emphasized during a meeting with the National Security Commission of the Parliament that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to respond to Israel and will do so at the appropriate time. The Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned of the “bitter consequences” of this attack for the occupiers. In a message to the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Major General Salami stated:”The unlawful and illegal action of the Zionist regime, which was thwarted in achieving its malicious goals due to the readiness of the country’s air defense system, indicates the regime’s miscalculation and helplessness in its confrontation with the Resistance Front. The consequences of this for the occupiers will be unimaginable.”Is Wa’d al-Sadiq 3 on the Horizon?Iran has shown no fear of striking the occupied territories, and the intensity of Wa’d al-Sadiq 2 compared to Wa’d al-Sadiq 1 proves the possibility of even more extensive operations. In the previous two operations, Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles and several drones toward the occupied territories, which, according to the Zionists themselves, were unprecedented in scale. Their response, however, was a limited attack.

Iranian officials have not yet officially disclosed the number of missiles launched by the Zionist regime against Iran. Today, Brigadier General Amir Mokhtari announced that Israel used 600 missiles in its attack, a claim denied by the Deputy of Public Relations of the Army, Abu Torabi. Yaqub Rezazadeh, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, in an interview with Donya-e-Eqtesad, estimated the number at 30 missiles. Regardless of the exact number, Israel’s attack is not comparable in power to Wa’d al-Sadiq 2. Israeli concerns now focus on the possibility of an even more intense Iranian response. The deployment of the U.S. THAAD missile defense system in the occupied territories demonstrates the apprehension of both the U.S. and Israel regarding Iran’s potential actions. It also indicates that the Zionist regime’s own defensive systems are deemed insufficient against Iranian missile strikes. The Islamic Republic of Iran launched Wa’d al-Sadiq 1 twelve days after Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and Wa’d al-Sadiq 2 four days after the Zionist regime’s attack on Beirut’s southern suburb, which led to the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Commander Abbas Nilforoushan. Thus, it is evident that Iran does not delay its response to the Zionist regime’s mistakes significantly. However, given the U.S. elections, Iran may wait at least a week. Escalating tensions in the Middle East on the eve of the U.S. elections could weaken the Democratic Party’s voter base and increase the likelihood of Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
